Women¢¥s Perceptions of Dentists and the Relevant Variables



Abstract
To define desirable relationship between patients and dentists by investigating women¢¥s perception with respect to dentists to determine causes of such perception, research was carried out on 1907 women having primary school children living in Iksan city, Cholla Bukdo province. Research was conducted by means of questionnaires.
The findings of analysis can be summarized as follows:
1. The result of research indicated women¢¥s perception with respect to dentists was extremely favorable in which more than 75% of the respondents said dentists were kind and honest. 74% of the respondents said the economic position of dentists was appropriate, and there were more women who affirmatively regarded the contribution .made by dentists to society than those who regarded negatively.
2. Women enjoying more satisfactory communication between family members showed
affirmative recognition as regards to dentists. Their evaluation regarding dentists¢¥ kindness, honesty and the appropriateness of economic position, in particular, was affirmative.
3. The oral health belief carried variegated relationship with the perception in respect to dentists. In particular, when the likelihood of action of preventive action, among oral health belief, was high, awareness with respect with dentists was more affirmative.
4. Women having regular dentists indicated more affirmative recognition on dentists.
5. Working women had more affirmative awareness towards dentists than non-working women. Their awareness was more affirmative particularly on dentists¢¥ kindness and appropriateness of economic position.
6. Women having less restriction on accessibility to oral health clinics showed more affirmative recognition in respect to dentists. In particular, women paying less medical charges displayed more affirmative awareness regarding kindness and honesty. 7. The higher the frequency of utilizing dental clinics is, women, in general, had more affirmative recognition on dentists.
